Paint Around - May 18, 2024

Our Spring Paint Arounds was a huge success!  Between the artists banter and the attendees participating in their own Community Projects, it was a fun filled day for a good cause.  Our attendees saw different techniques with the different artist.  Some painted upside down, used a hair dryer, had really wet paper and moved the pigment around, while others painted with much less water.  Some were really loose and some were really details.  In the end and with the very different styles, we had 5 amazing watercolor pieces.  We also had 2 awesome Community pieces created with acrylics.

We raised $500 for Buffalo Creek Middle Schools Visual Arts under the direction of Tatiana Hernandez.

THANK YOU to the artists Gwen Kodad, Sue Lynn Cotton, Karalee Hammes, Sally Wooldridge and Wendell Graham for their time and supplies, to all the bakers that donated baked items for the Bake Sale, to the Palmetto Historical Commission for donating the space and all the volunteers that helped make this day possible.

THANK YOU!

Sue Lynn CottonShe moved to Florida in 2002 allowing her to follow her dream of being a full-time fine artist.  There, she began doing portraits of island houses, businesses, pets and people. Living in a beach areas she paints lots of "beauty"scenes.

Sue Lynn is also a book illustrator and book cover designer. She has illustrated over 50 children’s books.  Most of these are available through Peppertree Press in Sarasota, FL.  See Sue Lynn's work at SueLynnCotton.com

Sally Wooldridge - As a small child Sally initially drew animals. She had many animal companions throughout her life, and has a deep love and respect for them. Her passion for drawing turned into experimenting with pastels, acrylics, pen and ink, oils, and watercolors.  Although she took a few class and workshops in drawing, Sally is basically a self-taught artist. When she discovered watercoloring, she fell instantly in love with the medium, and overtime has developed into a watercolorist.  You can see her works at https://www.facebook.com/sallywooldridgeartist
